Reader Registration

Welcome to the NLI Reader Registration
  • Anyone over 16 years of age who wishes to use NLI collections should apply for a reader's ticket.
  • A reader's ticket is valid for three years.
  • A reader's ticket is required to gain access to all NLI Reading Rooms including the Family History Room.
  • To renew a reader's ticket that expired within the past three years please bring your old reader’s ticket and current photographic ID to the ticket office in the main library building.
  • If your ticket expired more than three years ago you will need to apply online for a new ticket as data protection (GDPR) obligations do not permit us to hold personal information before that date. Your ticket application will be completed in person on production of current photographic ID.
  • The Ticket Office opening hours are Mon-Fri, 10:30am – 12:30pm and 2.00pm –4.00pm; Tuesday 5:00pm – 7:00pm, and on two Saturdays of each month from 9.30am – 1.00pm. See NLI Opening Times.
